H13 Tool Steel and Hot Runner Brand Selection

On paper, three hot runner brands could run an 8-cavity automotive mold in glass-fiber-reinforced PBT. We weighed each against what the resin and the flow requirement actually demanded, against budget, and against service risk over a 10-15 year program — and recommended Incoe, the one that checked every box, with a spares strategy to cover the one gap it had. On a separate Ford-program ECN for a cosmetic bezel, we broke a different rule and matched existing tool steel instead of upgrading it, because texture match mattered more than steel grade. Two real jobs, one sourcing discipline: weigh the actual requirement, not the reputation.
